We are off to a good start in Hawaii. We are staying in Waikiki a block from the beach. We spent our first day exploring the area around Waikiki and spent the afternoon on the beach. We are always amazed at the tropical plants, flowers and trees here – especially the amazing banyans and baobabs.
On our second day, we decided to explore more of Honolulu. We walked downtown, visiting some interesting neighborhoods as well as historic buildings like the mission houses and Iolani palace. It was a bit cooler today with some periodic light rain, so a perfect day for walking. We actually walked over ten miles!
Sophie and I love eating at hole-in-the-wall places, and Hawaii has a lot of them! So far, we’ve eaten garlic shrimp, açaí bowls, blue marlin, scallop ceviche, kaulua pork nachos, seafood gumbo and more! It’s a good thing we are walking so much!
