Sherbrooke is in the Eastern Township region – about an hour and half east of Montreal and just north of Vermont and New Hampshire. Its rolling hills, lakes, forests, farmland and quaint towns make it a popular tourist area. We went there to visit friends, Anne and Christian, whom we had not seen in over 20 years. Sophie went to college with Anne in France.

They were wonderful hosts! We got to stay in their historic home, visit local towns and lakes and even take a bike ride into Sherbrooke.

We discovered they enjoyed camping too, and Christian showed us the unique telescoping camper he built on top of a Ram truck.

We went to a nearby abbey together and bought maple syrup, cheese and a variety of other goodies made by the monks. We also visited the cute town of North Hatley which is at the end of Lake Magog – a massive lake that goes all the way into Vermont.

Anne and Christian made wonderful meals for us and even took us to their local bakery so we could get some “real” French breads as we were leaving. We won’t forget, and as their license plates say in Quebec, “je me souviens”! Merci beaucoup!
