Crossing Maine

We left Sherbrooke and headed east towards Maine. We crossed into the US at a tiny Coburn Gore border crossing in the middle of the forest. This led us through one of the most picturesque roads of our entire trip towards the town of Skowhegan. The quiet, small highway curved through the Bigelow Mountain Range – giving us our first (and most northern) taste of the Appalachian mountains. Lakes, rushing streams, mountainsides with trees turning fall colors made it a fun day.

We camped that night in Skowhegan along a pretty river. The next day we would continue across Maine to our next destination: Acadia National Park.
